What is a mission partner?
Mission partners can be individuals but most likely they are churches that have a heart for mission. They are churches that want to extend themselves to help a brand new church plant in a variety of ways.
Why become a mission partner?
Mission Partners are vital for the health and success of a new mission church. In essence, Spirit of Joy needs mission partners in order to maximize the mission to reach the world for Jesus. Mission Partners themselves benefit through participating and experiencing God’s amazing work through themselves and through Spirit of Joy. Mission Partners discover that as they give, they are blessed in return.
What do Mission Partners do?
The partnership can take many forms. Prayer is most important. You can mention Spirit of Joy in the prayers of your church and as a mission and ministry of the congregation. Any and all prayers are vital and necessary. Partner congregations can send 1-2 families per week to assist with worship. Help is needed in knocking on doors, telephone calling and assisting with youth ministry. Financial help is greatly needed and congregations have helped through Sunday school offerings, Mission of the Month, Special onetime gifts or from the church budget. Some churches choose to do a special offering on those months with 5 Sundays. A church could also do a fund raiser or meal for Spirit of Joy.
What are other ways that partners can work together?
Spirit of Joy will link web sites for Partner churches. Spirit of Joy will send quarterly mission minded articles for your church newsletters. Mission Partners will receive Spirit of Joys weekly emails and partners are encouraged to forward these on to church members. Mission is about mission. When people share what is happening, others will get excited. The biggest thing that mission partner congregations can do is to tell the story.
How do I become a Mission Partner?
You can download a Partner Covenant PDF and mail it or email. You can invite Pastor Glenn for a visit with church leadership or staff. Pastor Glenn will also sit down with mission committees and outreach teams to assist them in helping a partner church grow.
